A defect in perception can be physiological or pathological

Pathological → quantitative or qualitative

Illusion: e.g. you see a big man and confuse him with an elephant (pseudoillusion, if you have insight) → can occur with delirious states and intoxications

hallucinations: auditory x visual x tactile x intrapsychic (delusions) e.g. you see a pink elephant, even though there is none. you hear voices. you feel mices crawling up your arms

Dissociation: memory, identity, emotion, consciousness

Agnosia: tactile, visual, auditory, autotopagnosia (body), prosopagnosia
